Zurich Classic | Stats, Trends & Things You Don't Need To Know

Ultimate Team Player

This event hasn’t been around long (2022 is the 5th edition of the ā€œteam versionā€) and we have guys who often play with different partners. It’s hard to find the ā€œbest teamsā€ when new teams are constantly being created. So I went out to find the ā€œbest partnerā€ by looking into the Strokes Gained metrics as individuals. Here’s what I found:

One Step Further

So now you take the best golfers individual and you look at their 2022 partner to find the most successful pairing. Remember, these are Strokes Gained as individuals, not necessarily as part of their current team.

Best Ballers

As you may have realized by now, there’s two different formats in play. Rounds 1 & 3 will be Fourball (Best Ball) and Rounds 2 & 4 will be Foursomes (Alternate Shot). The different formats create value for players with different skill-sets. Here are the best best ballers in Zurich Classic Team History.

Obviously, you knew this was coming…

We’ve covered the other angles, so here’s the last. Best Alternate Shot players:

King Viktor & King Collin

We knew when Viktor Hovland and Collin Morikawa teamed up, that they would create a formidable duo. I didn’t really realize how good they’ve been until I started putting the tools together for this week. I have a Zurich Team Stats page which shows the combined stats for all the teams, for whatever number of rounds you want. When I filtered by Last 100 Rounds, I really saw the evidence.

There are 11 categories on my sheet, and Viktor/Collin rank #1 in six of them. And the categories they lead in are really really impressive:

  1. SG OTT

  2. SG APP

  3. SG TOT

  4. GIR

  5. Birdies/Round

  6. Fantasy Points Gained

Lines Still Live

If you missed out on The Scramble Tuesday morning, Andy and I released four props and — to PrizePicks’ credit — the lines haven’t moved. That’s the first time in 2.5 months that I’ve seen that, so if you’re still interested.

  • Fleetwood/Garcia o64.5 strokes

  • Gooch/Homa u65.6 strokes

  • Poulter/Lowry o65 strokes

  • Smith/Leishman u64.5 strokes

Those four above pay 12.5x return if you secure them here: https://bit.ly/3oxONZw

Good Luck,Rick
